After winning the lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Haryana, BJP has set a target of enrolling 16.5 lakh members in its State membership drive which constitute about 10 per cent of the total electors of the State.

Addressing people after launching the State-level membership drive at Rohtak, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on Monday said the membership drive is part of a nationwide programme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Party enrolled the Chief Minister Khattar as its first member through online system in the State on this special occasion.

“To achieve, our target of enrolling10 per cent of the total electors in the State BJP would enroll 100 members at each booth”, added Khattar.  He added that anyone could take the primary membership of the BJP by giving a missed call on phone number 18002662020, the only condition for membership is to complete 18 years of age, said CM. The membership drive would be carried out in such a manner that not even a single booth in the State is left uncovered.

He added, after enrolling these members, the Party would start enrolling active members and for that criterion has been fixed, said the Chief Minister adding that besides imparting training to the active members, they would be assigned responsibilities.

Khattar said as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described himself as the Principal Servant (Pradhan Sewak) of the country, the same way he (Manohar lal) would work as Mukhay Sewak for the welfare of people of Haryana. He said that it was in his nature to work for the BJP organisation and he dedicatedly discharge whatever the responsibility was assigned to him by the Party.

The CM said that a misleading campaign was launched prior to the assembly elections that it would be a miracle that BJP would form the State Government. Recalling his conversation with Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu, Khattar said that Naidu told him that none could believe that Manohar lal would become the Chief Minister of Haryana. He said BJP is the only party who has given such a big honour to him by making him the Chief Minister of Haryana.

National Secretary  of BJP and in charge of Party affairs in Haryana Anil Jain said more than 8 crore members are to be enrolled throughout the country during the membership drive and this would be a new world record.  He exhorted the party workers that the way the BJP has raised its number of seats from 4 to 47 in Haryana, the same way they should work untidily to raise the membership figure to 47 lakh. Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu, Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar also spoke on this occasion
