BJP protests against Bansal at CBI office

Continuing their protest against Union Railway Minister and Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, the city BJP on Tuesday protested outside the office of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Sector 30 here demanding Bansal’s resignation.

The party also demanded transfer of Mahesh Aggarwal, a kin of Pawan Kumar Bansal and an officer with the Chandigarh CBI so as to conduct an unbiased investigation into the matter.

Over 100 party workers of the BJP led by party president Sanjay Tandon gathered outside the CBI office to protest against Bansal.

Some party activists also clashed with the Police while they were stopped from crossing the barricades that were put outside the CBI office.

Heavy police deployment was made outside the CBI office, where activists including those from the BJP's youth wing BJYM had gathered to protest.

During the protest, Tandon said that the Railway Minister and his family are absolutely soaked in corruption.

The latest incident exposes the nepotistic function of the Government by the uncle- nephew duo for which the State Congress President should immediately resign and the ever so mute Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should show him the door.

Tandon also condemned the Government when the CBI chief presented an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that the Coal Scam report was altered. CBI should independently conduct the inquiry, he said. The BJYM Chandigarh State president Amit Rana said that this week will be marked as the “Black Week” for the city.

The main aim of the protest was to alarm against the insatiable corruption breaking all limits of civility and ethics. Scams and corruption go hand in hand with the Congress led Government.

He also added that such protests are inevitable as the Prime Minister again has chosen to remain silent on such incidents.
