Attacking the Congress which has seen an exit of many senior leaders recently, BJP President J P Nadda on Friday mocked the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra, telling it to first keep its flock together.
Nadda is on a two-day visit to Haryana, during which he will hold a series of meetings with party workers and leaders. On Friday, he also held party meetings in Ambala and Panchkula. His visit comes ahead of the panchayat polls in the state.
Addressing a rally in Kaithal, he also accused Congress of being a family-centric party. ''The Congress is now neither a party of ideology nor a national party, nor even a regional party. It has been reduced to a brother-sister party,'' Nadda said, apparently referring to former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi.
Nadda said the BJP and the governments led by it are working to take the country and states ahead and bring a change in the lives of people, including weaker sections and women.
Mentioning several parties, Nadda said the BJP is pitted against family-centric outfits, which only care about themselves and their families while the BJP and the governments led by it think about the nation and the country's people. He said people are reaping benefits of bringing the BJP to power. He said today the country is not only making progress, ''but we are progressing with leaps and bounds''.
The BJP is the party which works for the welfare of weaker sections, farmers, women, youth, underprivileged and the poor, he said.
He touched upon several schemes initiated for women by the Narendra Modi government while Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was also present, touched upon the zero tolerance policy shown by his dispensation towards corruption and highlighted several pro-people initiatives of his government.
Work being done to ensure reach of benefits of Govt schemes to grassroot levels: Haryana CM
Addressing the BJP’s ‘Amrit Kaal Sankalp rally’ in Kaithal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said that when he had assumed the charge of Chief Minister he had pledged not to divide the State in the name of caste and religion and that is how he had coined the slogan of Haryana Ek- Haryanvi Ek to ensure the holistic development of the State.
“We worked a lot on making the lives of the people of the state prosperous, bringing a positive change in the State’s image. Before 2014, Haryana had a different image, but as we came to power, inspired by the Prime Minister, several pivotal steps have been taken to bring in a positive change in the State. By taking several one of its kind initiatives we also showed the way how the benefits of government services and schemes are ensured to those at the bottom of the pyramid,” said Khattar.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has set a target of opening one medical college in every district. The government is continuously working in this direction. Medical colleges have either been opened in almost all the districts, or work is going on for the same.
Khattar said that pivotal steps are being taken by his government for Higher and Technical Education. While realizing that every youth needs employment, special emphasis is being given to imparting skill education among the youth. Skilling of every youth is the need of the hour so as to ensure that the youth gets ample employment opportunities. In the last eight years, more than 6 lakh people have been selected for private jobs.
Khattar said that dedicated efforts are being made by the State Government to increase the income of the farmers. The state is running an extensive awareness programme to make the farmers aware of the benefits of several schemes such as Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana, Har Khet Ko Pani, compensation for crop damage, and procurement of 14 crops at MSP. He said that the farmers should also move towards adopting crop diversification. Today every section of the society is happy, added the Chief Minister.
