BJP predicts downfall of Cong

Senior BJP leader and former Himachal chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumalon Saturday said the Congress party in Himachal Pradesh would be totally routed in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections.

Addressing a news conference at Pandoh he said the entire tenure of the Chief Minister had been wasted in laying foundation stones and in inaugurations of works done by the previous BJP Government.

He said it was a pity that the CM had no safer place to contest election in the high hills which he nursed during his political carrier and had to seek shelter in a place like Arki where his victory was said to be doubtful according to the political observers.

BJP leader claimed the Congress party would hardly win between 15 and 25 seats in the hill State this time.

Another BJP leader and former minister, Jai Ram Thakur, said at a news conference at a local hotel in Mandi claimed that a large number of old Congress leaders were crossing over to the BJP due to resentment against the allotment of ticket by Chief Minister. Jai Ram has never lost election from Seraj constituency during the past many years and this time he was expecting landslide victory. The Congress candidate from Seraj constituency is Thakur Chet Ram , chairman HP Milk Federation and blu-eyed boy of the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, both the BJP and Congress have intensified their election campaign and their workers were canvassing from door to door.
