BJP national secretaries RP Singh and Tarun Chugh on Saturday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and briefed him about the present scenario in Punjab.
A statement issued by the two leaders said that they apprised the Home Minister that some mischievous elements were active in the state who have created an atmosphere of tension and were trying to disturb the hard-earned peace in Punjab.
“Acts of sacrilege were being committed to hurt the sentiments of people and create disharmony among the communities,” they said.
RP Singh and Chugh also told the Home Minister Rajnath Singh that some political parties were also trying to exploit the situation to drive political benefit out of the same.
The Home Minister assured the BJP national secretaries that nobody would be allowed to disturb peace in the state and those trying to do so will be dealt with an iron hand.
Rajnath Singh said that the Government would not let anybody disturb the cordial atmosphere and the communal harmony in Punjab.
