After Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to return without visiting the memorial of martyr Bhagat Singh at Hussainiwala in Ferozepur and addressing a rally, party leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Tuesday requested the PM to visit Ferozepur again and witness it’s sorry state of affairs.
He pleaded with the PM to look into the conditions of Ferozepur, which is still lagging behind in terms of development even after so many years of Independence. Being a border area, there is no industry here and due to lack of employment, the youth here is moving abroad for better opportunities. Today, the situation is such that about 60 percent of the youth from this area has settled abroad. Rana requested the Prime Minister to announce an industry package for this sector.
The former Congress leader and multiple time MLA who recently shifted to BJP, asserted that Punjab has fought a long battle against terrorism and for the new Punjab, Hussainiwala border needs to be opened as it is the place of martyrs on which every countryman pays his respects. “The border can bring prosperity to the area, if it is opened for trade. It is necessary to open this bridge as a trade route to Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he said.
Rana said that the BJP would do very well in the Assembly elections and important leaders of other parties are joining it. He also hailed Modi’s decision to observe 26th December as Veer Baal Diwas.
