After facing three defeats in a row in lok Sabha elections, the Chandigarh BJP is now gearing up for the 2014 parliamentary elections. Aiming to wrest the city parliamentary seat from Congress in 2014, the city BJP has constituted a new team of office bearers, in-charges and conveners of its various Morchas and Cells among others.

After his re-election as Chandigarh party president in January this year, Sanjay Tandon  announced his new team of city BJP. MCC councillor Saurabh Joshi has been appointed as in-charge of BJP Yuva Morcha, Sunita Dhawan as Mahila Morcha president, Amit Rana as BJP Yuva Morcha president, Hazi khurshid as president Minority Morcha, Rajesh Kalia president SC Morcha and Sardari lal has been appointed as president ST Morcha.

The city BJP has appointed Dr Ramnik Sharma as in-charge of Doctors’ cell, Santosh Mishra as in-charge media cell, Mahesh Gupta as in-charge Human rights cell, Naveen Kochar as in-charge IT cell among others.

After the constitution of new team, Tandon has exhorted the workers to be prepared for the upcoming lok Sabha elections.

He said that with the appointment of conveners and in-charges of various important cells, the party will be strengthened at grassroots level.

BJP has remained ‘unfortunate’ three times in a row in the lok Sabha elections here.

In 2009, Congress candidate and current Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal had retained Chandigarh’s parliamentary seat recording a hat-trick on the seat and defeating arch rival Satya Pal Jain of BJP and Harmohan Dhawan, who had fought elections on BSP ticket then.
