lashing out over mass exodus of its leaders to BJP and putting a brave face in an apparent show of strength at Shimla, the Himachal lokhit Party (HlP) chief Maheshwar Singh said that saffron party is politically bankrupt and unable to find a suitable candidate for Mandi parliamentary seat.

Singh said, “It appears that BJP is politically bankrupt and for the reason could not even finalise a candidate for Mandi lok Sabha seat till now. It is HlP, which is working as third front in the State that made BJP politically bankrupt.”HlP chief Maheshwar who addressed media with all his remaining office bearers claimed that HlP played an important role to throw BJP, out of power in the State. “We worked as a Third Front and played a major role in BJP’s defeat,”said Singh.

Singh said there were some people, who were weakening the party and if they left, it would make HlP stronger. He said there were some people who were against the corruption within the BJP and opposed the proposal of merger with BJP in meetings held in  February, but now when the Government has expedited inquiry against BJP, those people have ‘compromised’ and returned back to it.

“With selfish motive, some people are leaving HlP and misleading other party workers as well,”said Singh and cautioned the workers, that who are planning to join BJP should first see the condition of party’s old guards including lK Advani, MM Joshi and Jaswant Singh.

“People who are misled by some leaders should think about their future and should learn a lesson from the condition of senior leaders in BJP,”he added. On supporting AAP, he said we have decided to support them unconditionally just to keep anti-Congress, anti-BJP votes intact. “We are Third Front and supporting a third power in the State,” he said.

Replying to a question about his alleged pro-Congress stance, he said he was never pro-Congress in fact he was the only legislator in the assembly who played a role of Opposition, when BJP boycotted the whole Budget Session. “I was alone to oppose anti-people policies of the Government inside the House,”he said.
