BJP has started feeling insecure: Capt Amarinder

Attacking the ruling SAD-BJP alliance in Punjab, former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday said that public anger against the Government has reached to such an extent that the BJP has started feeling insecure in continuing their relationship with the Akalis. Asserting that the Akalis, particularly the Badals, had grown so much “unpopular”, Capt Amarinder said that even their alliance partner BJP was waiting for the earliest opportunity to withdraw its support.

“The sooner the alliance collapses under the weight of its own contradictions, the better it will be for Punjab,” said the Congress Deputy leader in the lok Sabha. Capt Amarinder regretted that even after remaining CM for such a long time, Badal has not learnt anything. He condemned the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and blamed the Chief Minister for it.

“Badal has forgotten his responsibilities and is instead busy in amassing personal wealth that is now running into thousands of crores…It is so strange that while Punjab is getting poorer and poorer Badals are getting richer and richer,” he said. Referring to the recent Moga incident, the former Chief Minister said that it was because the people working for Badals' companies had become a law unto themselves and nobody dared to touch them.

Meanwhile, ClP leader Sunil Jakhar praised Capt Amarinder saying that he had even put his Chief Ministership at stake for the sake of Punjab's waters when he repealed the Water Sharing Agreements. He said that Badal should learn lessons from Capt Amarinder to put state's interests above his personal interests. Notably, the picture of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa was missing from the poster at the conference organised by local MlA Navtej Singh Cheema, where Capt Amarinder was the chief guest.
