Interacting with the farmers from several parts of the country, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP saying the main Opposition has concentrated all its power in the hand of a single person.
“I want 50 per cent reservation for women … They (BJP) believe one man knows everything. They believe in concentrating power in the hand of one man. They believe one man can run the country. We believe in the opposite. We believe in decentralising power,” he told the gathering.
Gandhi was in Gannaur apparently to hold a dialogue with the farmers’ organisations to incorporate issues related to their interest in the manifesto of Congress for the General Elections 2014.
He raised his concern over the participation of women in the interaction as there were only 8 women registered at the function which was attended by more than 400 farmers.
Taking a dig at BJP, Gandhi said farmers in Gujarat working in Kutch region were facing “insider” and “outsider” tags and were forced to leave the land they have been cultivating for decades. While concluding his meeting with the farmers, the AICC vice-chairman said that Congress does politics of choice and opportunity.
Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh conducted the proceedings at the interaction, while Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and other leaders sat with the audience.
