The Assembly session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha commencing on Monday is set to be a stormy affair with opposition parties, INlD and Congress set to corner the ruling BJP-led State Government on issues including Panchkula violence following dera chief verdict, Dadupur-Nalvi canal project, deteriorating law and order situation among others.
The three-day session would prove to be an acid test for the ruling BJP as it would be hard pressed to explain its position on these issues ahead of completion of its three years term in the office on October 26.
Both INlD and Congress have decided to stall house proceedings on the issue of scrapping of Dadupur-Nalvi canal project if the government does not debate on it on the floor of house.
Haryana Cabinet on September 27 had decided to discard the scheme after approving a proposal of Irrigation and Water Resources Department to denotify 1,019.2994 acres of land acquired for the construction of the Dadupur Nalvi Irrigation Scheme. The decision to scrap the project was taken after the government found that the scheme not “feasible”
Both the opposition parties, the INlD and Congress, had strongly condemned the Manohar lal Khattar government’s decision of scrapping the canal project last month, saying that it would adversely impact the farmers of northern Haryana.
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the party will raise the issue of Dadupur Nalvi Irrigation Scheme in the assembly.
Apart from this, the issue of purchase of bajra, deteriorating law and order situation, declining education standards, unemployment, murder of a 7-year old in Ryan International School at Gurugram, Sutlej Yamuna link canal, Murthal toll plaza among others will be raised by the Congress during the assembly session, said Hooda while talking to the mediapersons.
He also blamed the ruling BJP for deteriorating law and order situation in the state and said that government has failed to perform and provide good governance in the state.
lashing out at the BJP led Haryana Government, the former Chief Minister said that this government is an event management company. The BJP has not taken any decision in the interests of the people and betrayed the general public, he added.
On the other hand, leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala, while talking to the mediapersons on Sunday said that the party will raise the issues of farmers be it the scrapping of Dadupur Nalvi Irrigation Scheme or non-procurement of bajra.
During the assembly session, we will question the government about the deteriorating law and order situation in Haryana and increase in corruption cases, said Chautala.
The INlD leader also demanded that the session should be extended from three days to atleast ten days.
The BJP will be completing three years tenure in Haryana and the Chief Minister should apprize the House about the achievements of various departments and how they have spent Rs 1700 crore during the swarna jayanti year, he added
The first day of the session which will start at 2 pm will see obituary references and laying of papers while on October 24, presentation, discussion and voting would take place on the supplementary estimates.
The last day of the session will witness legislative and other businesses.
During the session, the Manohar lal Khattar Government is likely to blunt the opposition attack by talking about its achievements in past three years in Haryana and the steps it has taken for the welfare of various sections of the society during its tenure.
