BJP Government in Haryana on Tuesday hit back at former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for his allegations of irregularities in girdawari (special assessment) for the crop loss in the State. Haryana Revenue Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, dismissed the statement made by Bhupinder Singh Hooda terming it “ill-founded and purely politically motivated”. Such leaders never had the interests of farmers in mind and were just trying to grab news headlines by making rubbish statements, said Abhimanyu.
Hooda had on Tuesday alleged major scandal in the name of girdawari in the State. Capt Abhimanyu dared Hooda to name the belt where irregularities had been committed. The previous Congress Government had merely announced compensation for crops which were damaged due to heavy rain in October 2013, hailstorm in February and March 2014 and again by drought in 2014. It did not release even in single penny to the farmers while the BJP Government has released Rs 243.63 crore on account of compensation for the loss of crops, he added.
Farmers under the previous regime used to get compensation cheque for even Rs 2, he said. He blamed the Congress Party for the poor condition of the farmers in the entire country since it had ruled India for about 60 years. On the allegations of HJC supremo, Kuldeep Bishnoi that the State Government had given compensation of Rs 20,000 in lieu of damage to crops over half acre of land in Hisar district, Capt. Abhimanyu said, “The District Administration has repeatedly asked Bishnoi to name the farmer who has been given Rs 20,000 for the loss on half acre of land but he has not disclosed the name”,
