Chandigarh Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is gearing up to ensure the success of ‘Run for Unity’ in Chandigarh on December 15. A meeting of all the mandal presidents of BJP was held on Friday in which the ‘Run for Unity’ program was thoroughly discussed which is to be held on December 15, the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The party leaders said that on December 15, the whole nation would remember Sardar Patel on his death anniversary and on this occasion, a ‘Run for Unity’ Marathon would be organised at Sukhna lake at 9 am. The party appealed all the mandal presidents to make people aware to participate in the marathon. The marathon is an attempt to link the youths with a great national hero and spread nationalism among them, said the party.
While addressing the meeting, senior leaders of the party said that Sardar Patel was the first Home Minister of India and after Independence, he merged 562 states in India. Congress, who ruled the nation for more than five decades, has done nothing for him though he contributed a lot in the freedom struggle and afterwards. The Chief Minister of Gujarat and BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had announced ‘Statue of Unity’ in his memory.
