BJP flays Pb over bus fare status quo

Published on:

Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma on Tuesday questioned the Punjab Government why it was not reducing the bus fare after a drop of Rs3.37 in diesel prices.

“The diesel prices have come down by Rs3.37… I am not able to understand why the Government is not passing on the benefit to the people,” said Sharma, while interacting with a section of media. Defending the Government, Industries Minister Madan Mohan Mittal pointed that the Cabinet has already fixed the formula of deciding upon the bus fares.

“The formula says that whenever the prices increase, the fare would also increase, and now as there is reduction in prices, the fare would also come down,” he added. On this, Sharma added that the Government should bring down prices soon to provide relief to the people as Diwali gift.
