The BJP councillors of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation have donated their one month salary to the family members of Harpreet Singh Sodhi, who had died in a road accident on April 6.
The councillors donated Rs 95,000 to the family members of Harpreet and assured them to take up their case for seeking a job in UT Administration on compassionate ground.
Chandigarh BJP chief Sanjay Tandon met the family members of Harpreet and handed over the cheque of Rs 95,000 to them. Tandon also criticized Municipal Corporation for its failure to deal with the menace of stray cattle.
Harpreet, 33, a resident of Sector 45 had died in a road accident after his bike rammed into a stray cattle on April 6. Since then, the family had been demanding a government job for the widow of Harpreet. The family members of Harpreet had also given a representation to the UT Administrator Shivraj Patil during the Public Hearing Session seeking a job on compassionate ground.
