BJP confident of better show in Assembly polls

With the poll pact between BJP and Haryana Janhit Congress, hitting a rough patch before Assembly elections in Haryana, senior leaders of both parties have started exploring avenues of contesting the elections alone.

Senior BJP leaders in the State are confident of a much better show in the Assembly polls after getting a thumping victory in the general elections. They now want poll pact with ally HJC as per their own terms and conditions.

Krishan Pal Gurjar, former State BJP president and Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, and Shipping in Narendra Modi Government on Monday said, “Though BJP does not want to break alliance with HJC, yet if anybody wants to go, we can’t help”. He was speaking at a function in ladwa.

BJP high command also imposed new terms and conditions on the HJC for an alliance in the recent meeting at Delhi. It had asked HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi to either compromise seat share from 45-45 to 25-65 in favour of BJP or to merge his party with it.

BJP has also turned down Bishnoi's demand for being projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the alliance.

Kuldeep Bishnoi, president of HJC, who is going to start a series of constituency wise rallies across Haryana from June 17 without taking its ally BJP in to confidence, is in touch with former minister Vinod Sharma, who had earlier tried to join HJC, immediately after leaving Congress during lok Sabha elections.

Sharma, who will announce the name of his party soon, is in dire need of political alliance. He could join the HJC lead alliance if Bishnoi break with BJP.

Though BJP had given HJC a choice of merger in it, Chander Mohan, brother of HJC supremo and former deputy chief minister on Monday ruled out any possibility of merger of HJC in BJP. Bishnoi too has asked his party leaders to be prepared to contest elections from all 90 seats without forging any alliance, sources said.

Another entrant in this non-Jat alliance in Haryana ahead of the Assembly polls could be Gopal Goyal Kanda, former state home minister. He recently formed non-Jat, Haryana lokhit Party.
