Chandigarh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday strongly condemned the clean chit given to former Railway minister and city MP Pawan Kumar Bansal in the Railgate scam.
Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon termed it a breach of trust and a fraud perpetrated on the citizens of the country by the conniving partners, Congress and Central Bureau of Investigation. CBI, which was already known to be the pet caged parrot of the Congress, has now also turned out to be a chameleon whose changes shows a different colour for Congress and quite another for the rest of the parties and the people.”
“CBI seems to believe in the adage. Show me the face, I will show you the law. It seems that it has found Bansal’s face to be above the law,” he added. An emergency meeting of the core group of the party met at the party headquarters to discuss the latest development in the case. The meeting was attended by State party president Sanjay Tandon, former Union minister Harmohan Dhawan, leader of Opposition Arun Sood and other State office bearers, district presidents, cell in-charges and the councillors.
“The meeting discussed the party strategy post the unfortunate development. The party has also decided to take this breach of trust and murder of justice to each and every household of the constituency,” said Tandon. The CBI on Tuesday had filed a chargesheet against suspended Railway Board Member (Staff) Mahesh Kumar and Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla, besides eight others, in the Railgate scam and had given clean chit to Bansal in the case.
Demanding time-bound inquiry into Railgate scam, the local BJP leaders had also met CBI officials in Chandigarh and New Delhi last month. Following his nephew arrest, local MP Bansal had resigned from the post of Railway Minister on May 10.
