BJP announces Uniform Civil Code, 8L jobs, quota for women in govt jobs

Published on:

BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday promised Uniform Civil Code (UCC), eight lakh jobs, and 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs in Himachal Pradesh while releasing the party's Sankalp Patra for the November 12 state Assembly polls.

With less than a week left for assembly polls in his home state, Nadda announced various soaps, including eight lakh jobs, scooters for girls pursuing higher education, and five new medical colleges.

Promising implementation of UCC in Himachal Pradesh if the party is voted to power, Nadda said that a committee will be formed for it. At the same time, Nadda said that the BJP government will also conduct survey of Waqf properties in the state to check their illegal use.

Focusing on women voters, Nadda released the party's separate manifesto for them announcing 33 per cent reservation in government jobs. He also announced cycles for girl students in classes VI to XII.

Replying to a question, Nadda criticized the Congress manifesto — released a day before — saying that it lacks both vision and weight.

The BJP had formed a committee to take suggestions from the general public to draft the manifesto. The BJP is eyeing to change the trend of alternate governments in Himachal Pradesh. Elections for the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Assembly will be held on November 12.

UCC Will Be Implemented in HP: Shah

Nagrota: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday said that the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the hill state and all irregularities in the salary system of government employees will be looked into if the BJP comes back to power.

Shah, addressing polls rallies in the hill state, said that this election is not about electing MLAs or the chief minister, but making India ''a strong and a great country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi''.

''If you elect the Jai Ram Thakur government, I promise you that the common civil code will be implemented in Himachal Pradesh. No one can stop it,'' he said.

In his poll rally at Mehatpur in Una, Shah urged the people to elect Satpal Satti and help him become a minister. “Kindly help make a strong and a prosperous India with your vote,” he said.

“BJP has put in all its efforts to accomplish this,” said Shah adding that Himachal was not just ''Dev Bhoomi'' but also ''Veer Bhumi'' as brave mothers of the state sent their sons to protect the country's boundaries. ''I salute this land,'' he added.

The BJP, in its election manifesto, for the hill state has also promised 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs, new educational institutions and sops for various segments.
