In a major restructuring exercise ahead of crucial lok Sabha polls, State BJP on Sunday announced its 85 members’ executive body with 30 special invitee members including ex-MlAs of the party.
BJP State unit president Satpal Singh Satti has tried to create a balance of young and experienced, which stands as a top decision making body of the party in the State, including those who failed to make it in the list last week.
Satti said that party leadership has tried to give representation to all the constituencies of the State and to all sections of society which would help in formulating future policies.
He added that executive committee has been formed keeping the upcoming lok Sabha elections in mind. Among the prominent faces in the 85 members executive body are, Baldev Sharma, Urmil Thakur, Kumari Sheela, Ishwar Rohal who contested the recently concluded assembly election but lost the elections.
Among the prominent faces in special invitees list to the executive body include Dile Ram, Ramlal Markandey, Tejwant Negi, Kishori lal, Praveen Sharma, Prem Singh Drek and others.
Sources said that unlike earlier times, this time Kangra district team which largely owes loyalty towards former national Vice President of the party Shanta Kumar has got less representation in the executive body.
However, party’s spokesperson Ganesh Dutt defended the team saying that caste equation, area representation, constituency representation has been ably dealt with in the new team and there is no question of discrimination.
Earlier this week, State BJP had announced the name of 50 members office bearers’ team which had representations from both Shanta Kumar and leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal factions of the party.
