BJP accuses Virbhadra of misusing Govt chopper

Himachal BJP on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh of spending public money to attend court proceedings against him in personal matters.

Charging Virbhadra Singh of misusing his official position, BJP vice president Ganesh Dutt said in a statement that Singh and his family members used State Government’s helicopter to attend the CBI court in Delhi recently. He said Chief Minister was misusing public funds for his personal case.

Dutt also accused the Congress of making attempts to browbeat CBI and said the Chief Minister and senior Congress leaders like Digvijay Sing, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and MlAs were brought to the court premises on the cost of public exchequer of Himachal Pradesh.

Taking a swipe at Singh, Dutt said he was alleging Centre Government of vendetta, but the present case of amassing disproportionate assets was registered against him during the tenure of UPA Government and there was no question of vendetta arises.

The BJP leader alleged the State administration had come to a halt as the entire State machinery was put to attend different investigations ongoing against the Chief Minister. Singh had attended Special CBI Court in Delhi on May 22. He is facing charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

He had left for Delhi on May 19 on the State Government chopper to attend the meeting of States, which share border with China. The meeting was convened by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. After attending the meeting, he attended the court proceedings on Monday and returned to Shimla on Tuesday morning.
