A book titled ‘Birds of Bhindawas’, an e-book and a mobile app based on the ‘Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary’ located in Haryana was launched on Tuesday.

Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change (Independent Charge) Prakash Javadekar, jointly launched the book in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Facebook page and Twitter handle of the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary were also created. Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari expressed appreciation towards this effort dedicated to forest and environment conservation. He said that the e-book and mobile app developed by Ajit Balaji Joshi and his team would be helpful in providing easy access to information about the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary. He also expressed hope that the book would attract tourists to the sanctuary.

Referring to these materials containing consolidated information about the Jhajjar Jiliki Bhindawas lake as ‘Triveni’, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki said that we should not forget our identity in this age of development and technology. While big cities are required for development, forests are required to sustain life, he added.

The Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary in Haryana is located around 15 km from Jhajjar town. The Sanctuary is spread over an area of 1074 acres. The peripheral embankment is man made and basically constructed to store the escaped water of Jawaharlal Nehru canal through an escape channel at the time of power failure of lift Canal System. The Bhindawas lake is a home to the migratory and resident birds of about 250 species.
