Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, JD (U) leader KC Tyagi meet INLD chief OP Chautala

After announcing to launch the “third front” at the national level on September 25, former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal president Om Prakash Chautala on Sunday met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JD-U leader KC Tyagi at his residence in Gurugram.

During the meeting with the leaders of Janata Dal (United), a BJP ally in Bihar, discussion on political matters was held. The two leaders also enquired about Chautala's well-being. They also had lunch together, stated a statement issued by INLD.

The current situation of the country and the state was discussed. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and KC Tyagi have worked politically with late Tau Devi Lal and have been his struggle companions, the statement added.

Chautala had on Tuesday announced that he will contact opposition leaders across the country to forge a “third front” at the national level and had also revealed his plans of meeting Kumar and Tyagi over lunch.

The BJP is the ruling party at the Centre and has alliance governments with the Jannayak Janata Party in Haryana and with JD(U) in Bihar.

Chautala had said that before September 25, which is the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal, he will try to meet opposition leaders and urge them to come on one platform to launch the "third front".

The INLD patriarch is currently facing a difficult task to revive his beleaguered political outfit in Haryana.

Notably, Chautala, who was serving a ten-year term in connection with a teachers’ recruitment scam, formally released from Delhi’s Tihar Jail on July 2.
