Bid to tarnish my image: Virbhadra

Reacting sharply to the allegations levelled against him by leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday said that there was an attempt to tarnish his image by BJP leaders and he will take action at appropriate time, as the allegations are highly defamatory.

Jaitley has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and has made serious allegations of corruption against Singh and has demanded his removal and an enquiry.

Brushing aside the allegations, Virbhadra Singh said BJP leaders, particularly former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his family was feeling the heat of vigilance enquiries.

He said these were being conducted on the basis of chargesheet submitted by Congress to the President and the Governor, which had been accepted by the Government and forwarded to the vigilance for investigation.

The Chief Minister clarified that he was Union Minister, when the party in State made the chargesheet and he had no role in it. He stated that the innocent should not be scared and guilty will not be allowed go scot-free, as the enquiry is not politically motivated.

The Chief Minister also said that he had a long political inning and claimed he had never indulged in corruption. He alleged repeated attempts were made by BJP led by Dhumal to fabricate him in false cases, but he had emerged clean.

Virbhadra Singh said he has already laid his statement on the table of the House on the corruption charges now being made by Jaitley.
