Bibi Jagir Kaur lashes at Brahmpura

Lambasting Khadoor Sahib’s sitting MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from the constituency Bibi Jagir Kaur on Thursday said that incumbent parliamentarian had been a non-performer and never took his work seriously as MP.

Bibi Jagir Kaur, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) former president, urged the electorate of the border constituency to give a befitting reply to the candidate sponsored by Brahampura’s newly floated party, christened SAD (Taksali).

“The party had sent Brahmpura from its pocket borough to Lok Sabha but he miserably failed to deliver and never contributed to the debates in the Parliament,” she said.

Citing Lok Sabha’s records, she said that Brahampura participated for six times during his five-year tenure, while on the average, each MP participated in 45.8 debates.  “The last time he participated in debate was on July 26, 2016, and before that in thrice in 2015 and twice in 2014,” she said.

Another important parameter of performance is tested during the question hour. “Brahmpura had asked only 30 questions during his tenure. It is astonishing that, on average, each member of 16th Lok Sabha had put 267 questions while Brahmpura was contented with just 30 questions which suggests how seriously he was taking up his job,” she said.

His last question was responded on August 11, 2017, and since then, he has not even made any queries or questions from any Ministry. “None of his questions was selected as starred question which allow supplementary questions,” she said adding that his attendance itself was just 67 percent, far below the national average of 80 percent of all Lok Sabha MPs. “Despite this sad commentary on his performance, Brahampura refused to pull up socks and remained dull drab drain on state exchequer as his performance worsened by each session,” she said.
