Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday shared his “picture loaded with possibilities” along with former cricketer Harbhajan Singh. Coming in the run-up to Punjab Assembly elections, the picture, along with the caption, has fuelled speculations that the ace sportsman would be joining the Congress.
The picture was shared amidst the reports that Harbhajan, popularly known as “Bhajji”, planning to take an electoral plunge.
“Picture loaded with possibilities...With Bhajji the shining star” Sidhu captioned the photo he shared on Twitter.
The former spinner, who was part of the World Cup team in 2011, also retweeted the post by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president.
"It says everything...it says loaded with possibilities...There are so many possibilities...ashaaon se bhari hai tasveer," said Sidhu while talking with the media at Punjab Congress Bhawan.
The development came days after a buzz last week that former Indian star cricketers from Punjab — Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh — might join BJP. Harbhajan, however, had quashed speculations terming it as “Fake news”, while Yuvraj was yet to react.
Also, similar speculations were also rife during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls when there was talk about Harbhajan Singh joining the saffron brigade, which was reportedly planning to field him from the Amritsar constituency.
Punjab is slated to hold Assembly elections early next year.
In the 2017 polls, Congress had won an absolute majority with 77 seats, ousting the SAD-BJP government after a decade. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerged as the second-largest party with 20 seats, pushing the Shiromani Akali Dal on the third spot with just 15 seats. Its ally, the BJP, secured just three seats.
