Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has welcomed the Justice Katju Commission of Inquiry into the Behbal Kalan firing.
In a Press statement issed, AAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira has said that Justice Katju Commission of inquiry will bring out the real truth and identify the killers of Sikh youth.
Khaira has said despite passage of more than 100 days, the police has not been able to identify the killers of two Sikh youth and the FIR into Behbal Kalan firing continues to be against unidentified persons. This is nothing but a cock and bull story, as it were policemen in uniform who fired the shots and it is common knowledge that each police bullet is accountable. The Punjab Police is succumbing to political pressure to shield people, who ordered the police firing, said he.
Khaira said that it is a matter of great relief and hope that Justice Markandey Katju former Chairman of Press Council of India, has accepted the request of various human rights groups and offered his fair services to nab the culprits. Justice Katju known for his honesty and fearlessness is a people’s commission of inquiry that will fix responsibility of killings of two innocent youth in the Behbal Kalan firing, besides brutal use of force by the police on dictates from its political masters.
He also urged Justice Katju to include the role of Sukhbir Badal in his capacity as Home Minister, in the terms of reference of the said inquiry.
Terming the Zora Singh Commission of inquiry to be a cover up, AAP has urged Justice Zora Singh to resign from his position at the earliest and to allow Justice Katju to bring the culprits to the book, as demanded by the people of Punjab.
