Aiming at delivering quality services to the public while spending minimum amount, the ‘cautious’ Punjab Government has directed all departments to be meticulous in expenditure from the State exchequer.
Besides, the Departments have also been told to "monitor the salary budget". Official spokesperson of the Finance Department on Sunday said that any department requiring more funds for the salary budget must send the proposals to the Finance Department in advance.
“Departments have been told to release outstanding payments on priority instead of releasing fresh payments. They have, categorically, been restricted to clear fresh payments in case old payments are still pending. All the payments must be paid through Electronic Clearance System (ECS),” he said.
The departments could continue such temporary post in financial year 2015-16 for which approval had already been taken in financial year 2014-15. “To convert the temporary posts into regular posts or to revive a post, instructions of the Finance Department must be adhere to”, he said.
