Adding another feather to its cap, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has won the Best Hydro Power Producer Award by Independent Power Producers’ Association of India (IPPAI) for its excellent performance during 2012-13.
Achieving one milestone after another, BBMB is not only consistently surpassing generation targets set by central Electricity Authority (CEA) by 10 to 25 percent during past three years, it has also achieved an all-time high machine availability of 95.6 per cent. Besides, BBMB is supplying irrigation water to eight percent of total irrigable area of the country.
It is also contributing more than one lakh crore to nation’s GDP through enhancing agro and milk production. The award was presented by Union Power Ministry’s additional secretary Devendra Chaudhry to BBMB chairman AB Agrawal in a glittering function held at Goa on August 3 — Saturday.
The function was attended by distinguished luminaries from across India including Central Electricity regulatory Commission’s former chairman Dr Pramod Deo, former India Ambassador to USA Meera Shankar, Centre’s former secretary Ajay Shankar, among others.
