Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) celebrated its 39th Raising Day on May 30 in BBMB community centre, Sector 2, Talwara township with great enthusiasm.
BBMB was constituted with the merging of Beas Projects to Bhakra Management Board on May 15, 1976. Since 1976, this day is being celebrated as BBMB Raising Day every year on May 15. This year due to code of conduct for general elections, the function was organized on May 30.
On this occasion, AB Agrawal, chairman BBMB along with other senior officers of BBMB laid wreath at Martyrs’ memorial at Beas Dam. After that, a function was organised in the local BBMB community center.In his address, A B Agrawal gave brief description of works being done by BBMB. He said that in the year 2013-14, BBMB achieved the generation target in 9 months only, which is a big achievement.
Agrawal also mentioned the awards received by BBMB for its excellent performance in the field of power generation.On this occasion, chairman BBMB awarded 61 officers and officials of BBMB with gold medal, appreciation letter and cash prize of Rs 5000 to each awardees for their excellent work done during the year 2013-14.BBMB is a pioneer institution in the field of Irrigation, Power and Flood control in northern India. It irrigates 1 crore 25 lakh acres of land and serves the nation by producing 2900.73 MW of cheap and reliable power.
