The Congress candidate and sitting MP Pawan Kumar Bansal on Thursday filed his reply with the Election Commission denying the allegations of invoking communal sentiments of public.
Bansal stated that the allegations is vehemently denied as the same is totally false, without any basis and politically motivated to cover up BJP’s own barrage of mendacious allegations against me.
“I have to State that on 26.3.2014, I did not visit Mauli Jagran area for electioneering or for other purpose and therefore, there is no question of my
having said anything about the Babri Masjid or Godhra carnage there. No such speech has been made anywhere also as well,” stated Bansal.
Bansal also requested to dismiss the complaint filed by BJP.
The Chandigarh Election Department had on Monday issued a showcause notice to Bansal for invoking the communal sentiments of public while seeking votes.
The showcause notice issued by Deputy Commissioner and returning officer Mohd Shayin stated, “A complaint has been received from Hitest Pandit, Advocate, State Executive member BJP Chandigarh where he has stated that you visited Mauli Jagran area and sought votes in your favour by invoking the communal feelings of public of particular region.”
