Bansal attacks Enforcement Directorate

After the Enforcement Directorate attached cash worth Rs 89.68 lakh in a money laundering case involving the nephew of Congress leader and former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, the Chandigarh candidate hit back at the BJP for raising the issue of Railgate scam in the Lok Sabha elections.

The former MP on Tuesday said that the BJP is dragging me mischievously in the case and trying all desperate means to defame me.

"I am a prosecution witness in the case. But the BJP and party’s candidate MP Kirron Kher, after sensing the defeat in Chandigarh are now trying to mislead people of Chandigarh," Bansal said while reacting to news pertaining to Enforcement Directorate having attached cash worth Rs 89.68 lakh in a money laundering case involving his nephew Vijay Singla.

Addressing mediapersons, Bansal said, “Six years back the case filed against me by CBI when I was the Union Railway Minister was blown out of proportion. For over eight hours continuously, I was interrogated by CBI but nothing was found against me. On the contrary I was made the “prosecution witness” in that case completely acquitting me of all the charges.”

“Had I got anything to do with that case, do you think the BJP government over the last five years would’ve spared me?” he added. Slamming BJP, the former Union Minister said, ever since I was announced the Congress candidate to contest Lok Sabha elections from Chandigarh, the BJP has been trying hard to smear my name in one way or the other. BJP has accepted its defeat already otherwise instead of finding ways to attack me, they would’ve concentrated on talking about their own achievements in the last five years. The truth, however, is that our sitting MP has done nothing for the development of Chandigarh, the four-time former MP added.
