Sikh’s mini parliament, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, on Tuesday demanded ban on controversial film ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’. The party has asked the Centre and the Censor Board to disallow the movie to hit the screens.
The decision to demand ban was taken at SGPC’s executive committee meeting presided over by its president Avtar Singh Makkar on Tuesday.
Justifying its demand to ban the movie, SGPC maintained that the portrayal of Sikh’s first master, Guru Nanak Dev, and his immediate family members by living characters was “violative of the Sikh code of conduct” which was highly condemnable.
