Congress Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha and former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday sought a CBI inquiry and physical verification of godowns of Punjab.
Bajwa, talking to media persons while referring to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports, alleged that SAD-BJP government had been plundering state’s food grains from godowns in past nine years.
“I estimate a scam of anything between Rs 12 to 17 thousand crores and will make a demand to the Prime Minister Modi to hold a CBI inquiry and physical verification of godowns of Punjab,” he said.
On the ongoing wheat procurement, Bajwa, further blamed a close relative of Badal for allegedly ‘auctioning’ the transport and labour work of all the food grain markets of Punjab to a Patti resident.
“This man further sublets the transportation and labour work according to arrival of food grains in the markets,” he alleged.
He also demanded from the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to announce when the government would make payment to commission agents and farmers.
