Bajwa says Akali-BJP ties 'marriage of convenience'

Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday dubbed the SAD-BJP alliance as “opportunistic, unprincipled and marriage of convenience”. “It has record of historical contradictions with two parties working at cross purposes repeatedly and publicly,” he said.

He said SAD and BJP were two alliance partners which had different perceptions on several critical issues concerning this sensitive border state including construction of Bhindranwale memorial in Golden Temple complex.

“The setting up of six-member panel by alliance to sort out irritants is indicative of the rot that has set in and it is to be seen as to how much stamina the BJP has to face disgrace to continue in the government,” he said adding that no self-respecting party could work under such humiliation conditions.
