Bajwa calls upon cops to disobey illegal orders of Akali rulers

Accusing the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal of “misusing” police force for vested personal and political interests, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday called on policemen to listen to their conscience rather than follow “illegal and flawed orders” of Akali leaders.

Addressing a series of election meetings in several villages of Talwandi Sabo assembly segment, Bajwa said: “It is perhaps for the first time in the recent history of the state that the police is being misused to this extent by the rulers for their vested personal and political interests.”

“It is because of the misuse of police force for vested interests that even daughters and sisters are not safe, he said while referring to the killing of four police officials by the Akali goons including ASI Ravinderpal Singh in Amritsar who was gunned down while defending honour of his daughter.

Bajwa asked the policemen to listen to their conscience rather than follow “illegal and flawed orders” of Akali leaders. Bajwa urged the men from the force to be honest to the state and the people rather than playing in the hands of “dishonest and corrupt rulers”.

Alleging that law and order situation is deteriorating in the state, Bajwa said: “Crime cannot flourish without political patronage.”

Bajwa asked the people to end Akali regime in the state headed by Parkash Singh Badal and said that the process should start with the defeat of party candidates in the two bye-elections on August 21.
