Bajwa calls meeting to chalk out strategy

Even as the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Punjab have already entered the electoral arena in Delhi, the State Congress has called in its leaders from the State to campaign in Delhi.

With less than a week left for the campaigning for Delhi Assembly polls, the State Congress has convened a meeting of senior party leaders from Punjab, including parliamentarians and legislators from the State to chalk out a strategy for elections on Friday, November 29 — three days before the campaigning ends on December 2.

The meeting has been called at a time when the Akali and BJP stalwarts from Punjab are out in the field campaigning for its candidates. The entire rank and file of both the alliance partners, including Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, his deputy son and SAD chief Sukhbir Badal, Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma, Revenue Minister and Youth Akali Dal chief Bikram Singh Majithia, among others are campaigning in Delhi.

The meeting has been called by Punjab Congress chief and Gurdaspur MP Partap Singh Bajwa at his Delhi residence to work out a plan to "give befitting reply to SAD in the Delhi poll".

"Congress leaders from Punjab would fan out in four Assembly constituencies where SAD has fielded its candidates, and the Congress would expose the SAD-BJP Government and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Badal who were making false propaganda of development in Punjab," said Bajwa. The Badals father-son duo has kick-started their election campaign in Delhi from Wednesday by addressing election meetings in favour of SAD candidates.
