Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday assured the Mahila Congress leaders that women will get due representation in the parent body of PPCC and also called upon women workers of party to largely participate in Assembly wise mass contact programme.
Addressing a State-level conference of the Punjab Mahila Congress here at Congress Bhawan, Bajwa said that women were more committed then men in any field and they can play significant role in building a movement. Anita Verma, national president of Mahila Congress presided over the conference organised by Malti Thapar, State president of Mahila Congress.
Bajwa said that he was strong advocate of giving 33 per cent reservation to women in State Assemblies and Parliament. The bill of women reservation was presented in the lok Sabha and couldn’t be passed due to difference of opinion in certain parties. He hoped that bill would be passed at an earliest.
