Kicking off his state tour from his home constituency, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday gave a clarion call to the partymen to rejuvenate themselves for hands down victory in the ensuing lok Sabha elections.
Also Gurdaspur MP, Bajwa asked the party workers not to be demoralised by two successive defeats in Punjab assembly polls. In his first meeting with the party workers in the border district headquarters, Bajwa maintained, “Before lok Sabha elections in 2014, panchayat and municipal elections are expected in next couple of months. We have to ensure Congress’ victory in local elections and use this opportunity to rehearse for major electoral battle in 2014.”
Bajwa said in the previous lok Sabha poll, Congress had won eight out of 13 seats of Punjab, and he is confident to win all the seats this time.
Receiving an overwhelming response from party workers on his maiden visit to his home district after becoming PPCC chief, Bajwa said.
“The success of Akali Dal in assembly poll was not an achievement but a major tragedy happened with the people of Punjab. SAD-BJP maneuvered the victory by unfair means despite having lost the confidence of voters.”
“The mess created by SAD-BJP government in almost every field has driven the state at the brink of bankruptcy. All sections — the government employees, businessmen, small and big entrepreneurs’ are crying for survival.
Heavy property tax is imposed on urban people.law and order is major causality; the state government has failed to protect the life and property of general people.
Gangrapes, drugs, liquor, mine transport and cable mafia in Punjab has made the Badals all powerful and greedier.
The common man is suffering in the hands of Akali goons who have made life of everyone hard and miserable,” said Pratap Singh Bajwa.
