The special CBI court on Wednesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former MlA from Panipat and Minister of Transport, Tourism, Civil Aviation and Hospitality Haryana, Om Parkash Jain.
Counsel for MlA OP Jain, who appeared in the court for getting the anticipatory bail, told The Pioneer that the court has dismissed our application for anticipatory bail and now we have decided to approach Punjab and Haryana High Court on this issue. The special CBI court heard the arguments on the anticipatory bail application of Om Parkash Jain on August 19 and the court had reserved the orders for August 21.
SK Garg Narwana who is the counsel for Jain in the case, in which the former minister along with his accomplices Zile Ram Sharma and Rajinder Sharma has been accused for abetment to suicide of Karam Singh, former Sarpanch of Kambopura village in Karnal district, pleaded before the special CBI court on August 20, chaired by Justice Najar Singh that Jain has being cooperating with the investigators.
“When the CBI did not feel the need of getting the custody of Jain earlier then what is prompting them to arrest him now,” Narwana added. Narwana further said that Jain has not threatened any of the witnesses and neither has forced anyone to commit suicide. “So we pleaded that anticipatory bail must be granted to the MlA as CBI has no grounds of opposing the bail, and Jain has been cooperating with the CBI in the ongoing investigation,” said Narwana.
However, sources within the CBI said that they have been trying to contact Jain after the filing of the charge sheet only to find his house locked and his mobile phone switched off. “We are still looking for Jain and want to interrogate him to get answers on various queries listed with our department,” said a senior CBI official. Jain had sought anticipatory bail against imposition of Section 306 of the IPC against him. The next hearing for the main case will be on August 29 at Panchkula court.
