'Badals out to ensure Amarinder's victory'

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday claimed that the Badals were spending money to ensure that Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh formed the Government in Punjab.

Addressing a rally, Kejriwal said that the Badals knew that people were annoyed with the SAD-BJP and only Capt Amarinder’s victory could ensure their safety.

At the rally, Kejriwal also announced Dr Balbir Singh’s candidature from Patiala (urban) seat against Capt Amarinder. Dr Balbir, who was earlier a friend of AAP’s rebel MP from Patiala Dr Dharamvira Gandhi, had worked for Gandhi’s campaign for the lok Sabha poll before parting ways.

Earlier, Congress workers blocked the Patiala-Samana road from where Kejriwal was supposed to travel to reach the venue, following lathi-charge by the police. There was also a clash between Congress workers and police. There were protests against Kejriwal at different places.

He said that AAP has adopted zero tolerance against corruption and the time is ripe in Punjab to end the corrupt regime of SAD-BJP.

“In Delhi, we have already shown that AAP has adopted zero tolerance against corruption by throwing own even our own party leaders, who were found indulged in corruption”, Kejriwal said.

“On the other hand, Akali Ministers Tota Singh and Bikram Majithia have been accused of corruption and drugs, but Badal failed to act against them,” he said adding that similarly, it is in common knowledge that Congress leaders Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler were involved in the anti-Sikhs massacre in 1984 at Delhi, but Congress failed to act against them.

“Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh are the most corrupt politicians of Punjab and AAP has already proved its mettle as far as its stand against corruption is concerned,” Kejriwal claimed.

Kejriwal said that Modi was only making fool of the people as demonetisation drive has actually benefitted the business tycoons. “If Modi actually wants to bring black money out, then Badals, who have amassed biggest chunk of black money in Punjab and Amarinder Singh, who stashed black money in the Swiss bank should have been brought back,” he said.

Earlier, while addressing a rally at Dhuri, Kejriwal alleged that Wednesday’s attack on his vehicle, when he was going to Nihal Singh Wala in Moga to address a rally, was an attempt by the Badals to scare him away from Punjab.

“They can never break my resolve to work for the welfare of Punjab which has been ruined during the misrule of Akalis and Congress,” he said while addressing the rally on the fourth day of his 11-day tour of poll-bound Punjab.

Blaming the SAD-BJP government for the “deliberate” breach in his security, Kejriwal alleged, “It was an attack on me by the Badals to scare me away from Punjab. I myself saw a police officer indicate towards a group of 15 to 20 people, who came rushing towards me and started attacking my vehicle with canes,” he claimed and asked, “Can someone dare do that with the Badals in PunjabIJ I think it was a deliberate attack.”

“I don’t need security by the Badals. I have come here to sacrifice my life for the sake and cause of Punjab. I am ready to fight for the people till my last breath,” Kejriwal said.
