Badal's claim of fund from Centre farcical: PPP prez

People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Singh Badal on Thursday said that the rejection of Punjab Government’s demand for the sanction of Rs2330 crore as drought relief was utter failure of the Parkash Singh Badal Government in presenting its case convincingly.

“This has to be seen in the context of the repeated claims having been made by Badal and Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal of truckloads of money coming to the State from the Centre after the change of regime,” he said adding that this was another rebuff by the Centre to the Badal Government. Manpreet, in a statement, said that it was strange that despite the rainfall being 68 per cent less as compared to normal monsoon, the State Government did not declare drought in the State.
