Badal writes to HM for investigation

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday sought the  intervention of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to order an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the murder of 11-year-old boy Vidhu Jain from Malerkotla, who was burnt to death in September 2013.

Badal, in a letter to Rajnath Singh, apprised him that despite best efforts, the State Police department has failed to make any breakthrough in the case and now the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was requested to entrust the investigation of this case to central probing agency so that the real perpetrators of this heinous crime could be brought to book.

“Since the matter is of very urgent and sensitive nature, I reiterate my request to you for looking into the case personally and issue necessary orders to entrust investigation of this case to the CBI for quick dispensation of justice to the aggrieved family,” Badal wrote to the Union Minister. The State Government had earlier urged the MHA to hand over the investigation of this case to the CBI on January 3, 2014, but no response had yet been received from the Centre.
