Taking a dig on Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh’s lifestyle, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said: “Monarchs living in palaces hardly bother about the general public and are totally unaware about the woes of common man in the State.”
“Captain has scant knowledge about the rural life as he loves to live in palaces and enjoy the fruits of power. On the contrary, I have spent my entire life amongst the people working for their well-being due to which I am well verse with every problem faced by a common villager,” said Badal while addressing a gathering during his Sangat Darshan program in Kapurthala assembly segment.
He said that it was a fact that Captain was having a monarchical mind-set, due to why he desists from meeting the common masses.
Badal said that if voted to power, both the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would discontinue the several pro-people schemes and subsidies being currently given to people.
He said that the SAD-BJP alliance government has taken a number of pro-people initiatives like Atta-Dal, pension, shagun, Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme, Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Beema Yojna and others to facilitate the people.
“Both the Congress and AAP have a proven track record of being anti-poor and anti-Punjabis…God forbid, if, in any case, these parties are voted to power, they would discontinue all these schemes thus leaving hapless beneficiaries in lurch,” he said.
Citing instances, Badal said that Capt Amarinder had discontinued free power to people and welfare schemes were a distant dream during his regime. likewise, AAP government in Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal has done nothing tangible on the welfare front, he said.
Badal, later interacting with the media persons, said that entry of “disarrayed and opportunist” person like former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu would hardly have any impact on state polity.
He said that these turncoats frequently shift their allegiance for the lust of power and have no stand on any issue adding that such people were bound to go in political oblivion. People of the state have strong disliking for opportunists and defectors, who backstab their mother party for sake of personal interests, he said.
Hailing the historic win of SAD-BJP alliance in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Polls, Badal said that this result was a pointer towards back-to-back victory of the alliance for the third consecutive term in the state.
“This massive mandate, in favour of pro-people policies and solid performance of BJP at Centre under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has ever silenced the opposition for unleashing malicious propaganda to defame the government for their narrow vested interests,” he said.
