In a major embarrassment for the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, hundreds of farmers interrupted his sangat darshan programme and showed black flags in Bharowal village of Khadoor Sahib assembly segment.
Badal was left stunned when about 150 farmer activists of the Kisan Sangharsh Committee barged into the venue and held a vociferous protest against him.
Showing black flags to Badal, the farmers raised slogans against Badal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticising the Punjab government for ignoring the farmers’ issues.
The farmers also targeted Badal for failing to control incidents of sacrilege in the state. The police immediately swung into action, while the Chief Minister left the village in a hurry.
