Recalling his ties with the Brar family since long, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday described the death of Mata Balwant Kaur, the mother of Sri Muktsar Sahib Municipal Council president Mit Singh Brar and grandmother of special principal secretary to Chief Minister Gaggandip Singh Brar, as a “huge personal loss” to him.

Badal was among several eminent personalities who paid glowing tributes to Mata Balwant Kaur during her Bhog and Antim Ardas ceremony. Paying rich tributes to Mata Balwant Kaur, the Chief Minister said: “Mata Ji was a pious and religious soul who played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of her progeny through imparting higher education to them. Her farsightedness and her passion for educating her children and grandchildren is evident from the fact that one of her grandsons Gaggandip Singh Brar is serving as his Special Principal Secretary”

Badal appreciated unique role of Brar family, which enjoyed an impeccable reputation in the region, for their honesty, integrity and devotion for the welfare of mankind on one hand and serving the state, party and administration with sincerity and diligence on the other. Paying homage to Mata Balwant Kaur, Information and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the family members, friends and relatives in this hour of grief.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that they shared family ties with the renowned Brar family and Mata Balwant Kaur was a source of inspiration for all of them in scaling new heights of glory and prosperity besides serving the society and state with humility and enthusiasm.

Earlier Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji also paid rich tributes saying that all relations were very warm and cordial but the relation of motherhood was supreme. Praying to God he said, “May her soul rest in peace”. State BJP president Kamal Sharma said that the loss of Mata Balwant Kaur to Brar family was no doubt irreparable but inconsolable too.
