Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday compared the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb whose regime was associated with repression and atrocities.
Bajwa, addressing a number of election meetings in favour of party’s candidate for Talwandi Sabo bypoll Harminder Singh Jassi, said that Badal would go down as the worst ruler in the State in recent times where there was no room for dissent and difference of opinion, and he would have to pay for it.“Badal should learn from history as to what legacy he wants to leave behind. The person who has created a record by being Chief Minister for the fifth time has a blank mark sheet as he does not have even a single contribution to claim. On the contrary, his name is associated with creating social tensions, the latest case being that of Haryana where he has pitted Sikhs against the Sikhs,” he added.
The State Congress chief said that for the last several years, this government and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal have been making tall claims about development but now suddenly, they have reverted to the panthic agenda to exploit Sukhs” sentiments .Rapping Badals for not fulfilling even a single poll promise, he said that the government had rather backtracked from promises like unemployment allowance and laptops with data cards.
Bajwa also slammed Akali Dal candidate Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu as a deserter and an opportunist who had left the Congress for personal gains and who had no commitment.“The people would give him a snub by rejecting him this time. Congress candidate would make it to the Assembly with a big margin as the people are determined to teach a lesson to the opportunists,” said Bajwa.
CONGRESS ON VERGE OF EXTINCTION: SUKHBIR
Talwandi Sabo: SAD president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Thursday said that the Congress party was on the verge of extinction for following divide and rule policy of its British masters.“In parliamentary elections, people of the nation has already punished Congress for following such anti-nation policies and now with assembly polls in Haryana and Maharashtra, Congress would say its final goodbye,” said Sukhbir, while talking to media while campaigning for SAD-BJP candidate Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu.
He said that people of India were teaching befitting lesson to the Congress party by shrinking it to 44 seats in parliamentary elections and party was all set to meet the same fate in Haryana and Maharashtra assembly polls.
Condemning Haryana police’s attack on media persons while they were covering incident of capturing gurdwaras by some persons at the insinuation of Haryana Congress government, Sukhbir said that Hooda government was highly frustrated seeing written on wall its clear defeat in ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections, so Congress opted its age old tactics of capturing gurdwaras at the gun point.
“SAD would never allow Congress party to succeed in its conspiracy of dividing Sikhs or harming the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) at any cost,” he said.Addressing rallies, Sukhbir appealed voters to ensure Sidhu’s victory with a margin of more than 51,000 votes.
