Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday congratulated Amit Shah on being elected the BJP president for a second term.

In a letter to the BJP chief, the Shiromani Akali Dal leader said, "I am confident that under your astute leadership and able guidance, the entire rank and file of the party would be immensely benefited."

The Chief Minister said under Shah's stewardship, the bonds between allies SAD and BJP would be further cemented.

"His (Shah's) vast organisational experience coupled with expertise as a capable strategist would prove to be an asset to BJP in general and SAD-BJP alliance in particular for meeting any challenge in the near future," said Badal, who had to be hospitalised two days back after he complained of chest congestion.

Shah, who is credited with taking BJP's membership to a new high and leading the party to power in four states, was yesterday elected unopposed for a new term as its president with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading party bigwigs in his endorsement.
