A day after Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal described demand for Agriculture Minister Tota Singh’s resignation as “unjustified, the senior Badal on Thursday also gave clean chit to the senior Akali leader in the pesticide scam.
“I can't punish any innocent while investigations are still on…Anyone found guilty of supplying spurious pesticides to the cotton cultivators in the state would not be spared at any cost,” said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Badal said that the Special Secretary Agriculture had already submitted a detailed report on this contentious matter, which has been forwarded to the Director General of Police (DGP) for necessary action.
likewise, the Chief Minister said that he had already ordered an enquiry to fix the responsibility of the erring officials and dealers involved in the sale of spurious pesticides by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Police comprising three Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) under the direct supervision of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Crime.
