Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday asked the Environmental expert from Japan to suggest some “low cost eco-friendly technology for the cleaning of village ponds” across the State.
The Japanese environmental expert Prof Masahisa Nakamura, who is also the Chairman IlEC Scientific Committee on Sustainability and Environmental issues, was participating in the review meeting regarding the progress of ongoing Rs 15.05 crore Bio-Remedial Project for cleaning of Buddha Nullah at ludhiana, chaired by the Chief Minister.
Responding positively, Prof Nakamura agreed to work out an effective system to redress the pond cleaning issue without using expensive organic compounds. He mentioned that he would soon come with some cost effective methodology to redress this grave issue across the state. Under the Bio-Remedial Project, which was initiated with the concerted of the state government, total five green bridges would be installed at various points on the Buddha Nullah.
Presently, two such bridges have been installed and the work of remaining three would be completed by the March end.
