Stating that Punjab was swiftly emerging as a global hub of medical institutions, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday expressed hope that people across the world would come to the State to avail healthcare facilities.
Badal, inaugurating Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Institutes at Ranbaj Hospital in Mohali, said that these state-of-the-art medical institutions would provide the best health services in their fields.
He said that it was a matter of pride for Punjab, which has taken a lead in setting up these institutions in collaboration with Canadian partners, first of their kind in the country.
“I hope that both these institutions would go a long way in contributing a lot towards the skill development mission already launched by the State Government as the sole objective of the mission is to encourage such institutions to impart skill development training to the youth so as to enable them to be gainfully employed,” said Badal.
Highlighting achievements in the medical sector, Badal said that Punjab was providing free treatment to patients suffering from Cancer and Hepatitis C.
“Advanced Cancer Treatment Centres have also been set up in Government Medical Colleges in Amritsar, Patiala and Faridkot besides institutes at Bathinda and PGI Satellite Hospital in Sangrur,” he said.
Similarly, Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme, covering nearly half of states population, had already been started to provide cashless treatment, he said.
Consul General of Canada, Chandigarh, Christopher Gibbins, speaking on the occasion, said that this venture, set up with the support of Canadian partners, would help the health infrastructure in the state.
